TN Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin who arrived to the city earlier today to oversee the preparations for DMK’s Mupperum Vizha in Coimbatore’s CODISSIA Grounds set to be held tomorrow paid a visit to the Open Air Jail premises in Ondipudur today.

Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar, Minister-in-charge of Coimbatore, Muthusamy and DMK MP A.Raja accompanied him. The visit by the minister to this 30-acre site has triggered speculations that this spot could also become a suitable place for constructing the world-class international cricket stadium for Coimbatore proposed by Industries Minister TRB Raja and promised by Chief Minister MK Stalin.

What we know about the upcoming stadium is that it would be World Class multi-purpose Coimbatore International Cricket Stadium. The government plans to build this cricket stadium on 20 acres of land and make it the most sustainably built state- of-the-art stadium in the World.

It could be a netzero stadium, which will not only boost local cricket ecosystem but also serve as a beacon of green innovation, water-conservation and climate-consciousness. There are plans to make this upcoming stadium Tamil Nadu's second international-standard cricket venue after Chennai's iconic MAC stadium.
