Tamil Nadu Agricultural University's E-YUVA Centre, supported by the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) and Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology (COXBIT) organised a one day entrepreneurship workshop titled Deep dive into Business Model Canvas on March 29th.
Business Model Canvas (BMC) is a visual tool with 9 building blocks, outlining a business's core elements. It covers customers, value propositions, channels, relationships, revenue, resources, activities, partnerships, and costs.
BMC helps describe, design, challenge, and innovate business models. This structured template provides a clear overview, aiding in strategic planning and adaptation. It's used by startups and established companies to analyze and optimize their business, fostering clarity and strategic thinking.
At the event, Dinesh Kumar Sundaravelu, Vice President, StartupTN, Government of Tamil Nadu, deliberated on each element of BMC. 20 students belonging to TNAU main campus, its various constituent and affiliated colleges participated in the workshop.
With the learnings of the workshop, they worked on their business models and pitched their products. The students came up with interesting products such as a seed coating agent 'Biogold', dryflower bouquet 'Everbloom' and traditional rice flour based confectionary 'Nutribites'.
Earlier in the inaugural session of the workshop, E. Kokila Devi, Professor and Head (Department of Plant Biotechnology) formally welcomed the participants. S. Mohankumar, Senior Professor, (Department of Plant Biotechnology) delivered the inaugural address.
Prof. S. Mohankumar, in his inaugural address motivated the students to think innovatively and move forward confidently in the path of entrepreneurship by citing examples of numerous successful entrepreneurial ventures which we come across in day-to-day life including Naturals, Keeraikadai.com, Tea Boy Franchise model, etc. L.
