Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) V. Geethalakshmi, inaugurated the Agri Hub and the Agri startup products exhibition – Demo Day for the benefit of students here on Saturday. The aim of this Agri-Hub is to nurture and support more agri-based entrepreneurs.
V.Geethalakshmi suggested the students to start their own agribusiness ventures rather than seeking jobs. She said that opportunities are plenty and students should focus on thought-provoking creative ideas.
She distributed the innovation grant of Rs.6.30 lakhs to six beneficiaries of IVP grantees of Technology Business Incubator (TBI). Rs. 48 lakhs was granted to EDII-Killikulam Agribusiness Incubation Forum (KABIF) and EDII-Periyakulam Horti Business Incubation Forum (PHBIF) to achieve their objectives.
Innovative products produced by startups and IVP members were displayed in the exhibition at Anna auditorium. About 500 participants including students, startups, innovators, scientists, Deans and Principals of constituent and affiliated colleges of TNAU from all over Tamil Nadu participated in the event.
Also present during the inauguration of the Agri Hub and the exhibition was E.Somasundaram, Director (ABD), Directorate of Agribusiness Development, TNAU,.R.Muthuraman, Additional Director (FAC), EDII, Chennai and D.Suresh kumar, Director, CARDS, TNAU, Coimbatore.
