Tiruppur Journalist attacked by unidentified gang now under ICU care in Coimbatore

A journalist working for the popular news channel News 7 Tamil in Tiruppur was attacked by an unidentified group of 6 men yesterday, making him suffer serious injuries. The reporter, Nesaprabhu is in ICU care at a private hospital in Coimbatore.
As per reports, Nesaprabhu was followed by some unidentified men last night and upon noticing that they were observing his movements, he dialed 100. He was then contacted by the local police and they directed him to head to the station and give a written complaint.
As he was shadowed, Nesaprabhu stopped his vehicle near a petrol bunk, and gave the details of the gang that was following him. At approximately 9 p.m. at least 4 cars surrounded him, and men from the car with knives brutally attacked him, causing grievous injuries to the arms and head.
The cops were informed about the incident by the public there, and Nesaprabhu was first taken to GH in Palladam. Since his injuries were serious, he was then moved to a private hospital in Coimbatore, where is his being treated in the ICU.
The police have secured the CCTV footages from the petrol bunk, and investigation is going on. Reports state that Nesaprabhu recently reported on illegal sale of liquor in Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation outlets operating in Tiruppur. He also reported a story regarding an inspector threatening a trader and demanding bribes.
Reporters and Cameramen belonging to various news organizations in Coimbatore condemned this attack on journo Nesaprabhu. Sources state that Union Minister of State L.Murugan is expected to visit Nesaprabhu later.
