A Coimbatore-based ceiling fan manufacturing company has created a smart ceiling fan that can be controlled by voice without Internet or other smart home systems like Alexa.

Called Super myQ, this direct voice controlled-fan developed by Versa Drives under their brand Superfan. This fan has a microphone in its body, and once the user sets certain voice commands such as ‘Turn On’, ‘Speed Up’, ‘Slow Down’, ‘Maximum Speed’ and ‘Power Off’ through the phone and transfers it to the fan, the entire operation of the fan can be done with just a command without requiring any additional support.

And, the sweet part is it accepts commands given in Tamil, English, Hindi and probably all languages. The fan can be given any name also. For instance, if you call it 'Windy', and say 'Windy, turn the fan on', it will respond to your command like a dutiful servant.
