When you travel on Avinashi Road in the city, you may come across a teal-and-silver-colored electric bus that seems to float on the road.

Called NueGo, this is an electric AC bus brand by Mumbai-based Greencell Mobility offering intercity bus services. It has been transporting passengers from the city to various destinations in a greener way for more than a year now. 

"NueGo operates in over 110 cities across the country. Since its launch in 2022, NueGo has operated over 250 buses with more than 450 daily departures. The brand's fleet consists entirely of electric buses, which feature comfortable seating and produce zero tailpipe emissions," according to a report from Autocar.

"Each bus undergoes 25 safety checks, including mechanical and electrical inspections. The vehicles have a range of over 250 kilometers on a single charge, ensuring a reliable and safe journey for passengers," the report added. 

NueGo offers intercity bus rides from Coimbatore to Tiruppur, Trichy, Salem, Karur, and even Bengaluru, along with other nearby destinations such as Avinashi, Bhavani, Chithode, Dharapuram, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Hosur, Kangeyam, Kodaikanal Road, and Krishnagiri. Two months ago, it started offering connectivity to Madurai from Coimbatore.

The travel fare charged by NueGo is very affordable compared to usual service providers, a traveler who recently discovered NueGo's offerings opined. This could very well be the first EV Omni bus to connect Coimbatore with different cities, he added. 

Taking women's safety a step further, NueGo has introduced a dedicated "Pink Seat" feature for women during ticket booking, along with a 24/7 helpline for female passengers, the report said.
