Indian cricketer SuryaKumarYadav, fondly called as SKY and the players of the Mumbai team including ShreyasIyer who are here in Coimbatore for the BuchiBabu Invitational Tournament met the children undergoing treatment for different cancers at the free pediatric oncology ward of the Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Oncology and Research (SRIOR) - Sri Ramakrishna Hospital on Thursday.

SuryaKumarYadav's sensational catch in the final of 2024 T20 World Cup against South Africa in Barbados, turned the match in India's favor, and the Team defeated South Africa by 7 runs to bring home the T20 World Cup championship.He became a hero of every Indian cricket fan after that; and today he became much more than that after he shared a short but sweet & heartfelt moment with children fighting cancer here.

The kids cheerfully welcomed the players with red roses, and that awestruckedShreyas, SuryaKumarYadav and the rest of the team members. The cricketers signed the mini cricket bats of the kids and presented gifts to them.Interacting with a few kid, SuryaKumarYadav asked about their interests and heard from them who their favorite cricketers are.

The kids presented portraits of SuryaKumarYadav and Shreyas as mementos, and the cricketers were very delighted to take them home. They wished all the kids a speedy recovery.

Surya Kumar Yadav then enquired Dr.P.Guhan, Director, SRIOR about the treatment the kids are being given at the ward and the duration of the treatment, Dr.P.Guhan explained him about the treatments and their outcomes. He shared with him that this ward was inaugurated by former President of India, Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in 2005. He also conveyed to him that more than 1000 children with cancers have been freely treated at this ward so far.

Surya Kumar Yadav appreciated the hard work that SRIOR's oncology department and the phenomenal support that Sri Ramakrishna Hospital is providing towards this noble cause.
