Sri Ramakrishna Hospital's Cardiology and Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery Departments are organizing an exclusive Cardiology exhibition between September 21 and 22, 2024 at Brookefields Mall, Coimbatore. Held at the ground floor of the mall, the exhibition featured 8 different stalls each highlighting a different aspect of cardiac issue, disease prevention and care & management. It was inaugurated by Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, IAS, in the presence of SNR Sons Charitable Trust's Chief Executive Officer C. V. Ramkumar, the Hospital's Medical Director Dr. S. Rajagopal, Medical Superintendent Dr. S. Alagappan on Saturday.

It was led by Consultants from Department of Cardiology and Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery including the hospital's Chief Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr.S. Thiagaraja Murthy.

One of the key highlights of the exhibition was the live Stent demonstration, which carefully illustrated how blockages in the heart are treated through minimally invasive procedures.

A live mannequin CPR demonstration was done by students from Sri Ramakrishna Hospital Institute of Allied Health Sciences to educate on how to provide effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while there is an emergency. The expert Dieticians from Sri Ramakrishna Hospital offered free diet advice on heart healthy foods and habits that are effective in preventing heart disease.

 

District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati visited all the stalls and appreciated Sri Ramakrishna Hospital for organising this awareness initiative in a place that attracts public in large. While speaking to the press and media, he underlined that Tamil Nadu Government has introduced various pathbreaking initiatives like Idhayam Kappom - a scheme that has made available emergency loading doses at the primary healthcare level to prevent deaths due to heart attacks; Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam - a scheme to deliver medical care at the doorsteps of people), Innuyir Kappom - a scheme that supports up to ₹1 lakh towards the treatment of persons injured in a road accident for the first 48 hours in any empanelled hospitals besides the life-saving Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. He shared that special camps are being held to have more people covered under CM's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. Last year 60,000 new beneficiaries were added through special camps to get registered in the scheme. Sri Ramakrishna Hospital's Chief Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr.S. Thiagaraja Murthy said the leading causes of heart diseases today are poor food habits, stress and sleeplessness.To reduce the risk of heart diseases, one should be cautious of diet habits, weight management and lead an active lifestyle.
