Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurated the Sri Krishna Stadium on Saturday in the presence of S.Malarvizhi, Chairperson, K.Adithya, Trustee, K.Sundararaman, CEO, Sri Krishna Institutions.
This world class Stadium is established inside Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology and Sri Krishna Arts and Science College campus in Kuniamuthur.
This Stadium, designed by Chennai-based firm PTK Architects, has a state of the art football field with an artificial turf and floodlights. It also houses 2 basketball courts, 2 volley ball courts, 2 cricket nets, an artificial turf and an international standard 400m synthetic track.
After declaring the stadium open, the Minister handed over various balls and sports equipment to the respective sports-team captains, greeted the huge number of athletes who assembled in the newly inaugurated stadium, and played cricket with the cricket players.
K.Adithya, Trustee, Sri Krishna Institutions presented a jersey to the minister as a part of the felicitation.
S.Malarivizhi, Chairperson and Managing Trustee said that it is a momentous and joyful ocassion to have Minister Anurag Singh Thakur inaugurate this Stadium.
"It is a dream come true moment today," she shared.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that he cannot believe that any educational institution can have such a sports complex.
He underlined that providing this world class facility shows the vision and passion of the management of Sri Krishna Institutions to promote sports.
"... I'll promise whenever the opportunity comes, and if we are to organise the Khelo India University Games, we will make sure that few games of few sports disciplines will happen in the Sri Krishna Stadium," said the Minister.
