Colleges of India not just have the duty to ensure we have future leaders for business ventures but also entrepreneurs who can dream and create next big business ventures that can become globally reputed organizations, said Subhas Sarkar, Minister of State for Education, Government of India at the 33rd Graduation Day of Sri Krishna College of Technology held on Wednesday.
S.Malarvizhi, Chairperson and Managing Trustee, Sri Krishna Institutions presided over the event.
M.Balasubramaniam, Board Director, Global CXO-Digital Transformation Leader, Reimagining GCC Expert, VC-Start Up Mentor, D&I and SDG Advocate took part as the Guest of Honor.
Sundararaman, CEO, Sri Krishna Institutions, S.Maragatham, Principal, SKCT, heads of various Departments and from other institutions under Sri Krishna Institutions took part.
More than 1000 students received their degree certificates from the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor.
K.Adithya, Trustee, Sri Krishna Institutions welcomed the gathering, and expressed that the college has given the students "the most powerful weapon in the world", denoting the quality of education given by SKCT and urged them to make good use of it to transform the world.
He also listed out the various activities, research collaboration, recognitions, accomplishments and other milestones of the college and its students & members of staff in the past one year.
The Guest of Honor, in his address to the students said that the way hiring takes place today is no longer Volume based but Value Based. He said that the industry expects their new recruits to be deployable and functional from Day 1.
He expressed that the industry today is focused on human elements more than ever. Industry seeks such skills to be in their employees to nurture and develop humanity.
He shared that in a survey featuring perspectives of 300+ CEOs about the qualities they seek in their recruits, the CEOs give utmost importance to Written Communication skills, problem solving skills, team working skills, Initiative Skills, analytical skills, strong work ethics, verbal communication, leadership skills and only after all that they think about Technical Skills, hence he wanted them to keep these in mind.
He also conveyed that just like how businesses give much importance to customers' experience, in the coming days, students' experience will determine their success and that of the institutions.
Subhas Sarkar, the Chief Guest expressed that the Government has made establishment of startups very simple and it is ready to support the youth with innovative ideas for establishing industries especially in manufacturing and service sectors.
By doing so, it will also help in solving the unemployment issue and also promote India as an export oriented manufacturing destination.
Talking about the NEP- 2020 National Education Policy, he called it the single biggest change in Indian education system in the last few decades.
He said the Union Government has worked tirelessly for the improvement of Education Sector both at School and Higher Educational Institutions level.
He said the national education policy provides great freedom to pursue a variety of courses, and it will help create well groomed professionals at the end of the collegiate study.
