The Coimbatore Cancer Foundation (CCF) announced on Monday that the registration for the much-awaited 12th edition of the Walkaroo Coimbatore Marathon powered by ELGi Equipments is open from today.

This Marathon event in Coimbatore is considered to be the biggest annual running and its 12th edition is scheduled for Sunday, December 15, 2024. 

Coimbatore District Collector Kranti Kumar Pati and Coimbatore City Police Commissioner, V.Balakrishnan launched the registration on Sunday and signed up to participate in the Marathon. 

Online registrations are now open at www.coimbatoremarathon.com, offering participants convenient access to register for the marathon.

Since its inception in 2013, the Coimbatore Marathon has raised over Rs.4.75 crore, and these funds are used to greatly support CCF's initiatives to assist survivors and their families and creating widespread cancer awareness among citizens.

This year, the event features a Half Marathon (21.1 km), a 10 km run, a 5 km timed run, and a 5 km walk. Registration fees are Rs.1,300 for the Half Marathon, Rs.1,100 for the 10 KM run, Rs.850 for the 5 KM timed run, and Rs.600 for the 5 KM walk. A total prize pool of Rs. 2.7 lakh rupees will be presented to the winners in separate categories for men and women. 

This 12th edition of Coimbatore Marathon, according to the Joint-Race Director of Coimbatore Marathon, N. Valliappan, is expected to have the participation of 20,000+ persons running for a noble cause. To make registrations a lot cooler, WhatsApp enabled registration process will be introduced. Anyone interested to participate in the marathon can register by sending "Hi" to a designated number from their WhatsApp.
