Tamil Nadu's Highway Minister E.V.Velu and Housing & Urban Development Minister Muthuswamy will jointly inaugurate the first phase of Western Ring Road project in Coimbatore on August 11 (Friday).
In the first phase, the ring road will be laid for 11.80 km through Madukkarai, Sundakkamuthur, Perur Chettipalayam, Theethipalayam and Madampatti.
The work is expected to commence at Mayikal on Pallakad road tomorrow.
In the second phase, a 12.10 km road will be laid through Perur, West Chithiraichavadi, Kalikkanaickenpalayam, Vadavalli and Somayampalayam.
In the third phase, a 8.52 km road via Pannimadai, Nanjundapuram, Kurudampalayam, Gudalur and Narasimanaickenpalayam.
The ring road a.k.a. the bypass road could reduce the traffic congestion taking place in city area and help the vehicles from Kerala going to Mettupalayam, Ooty, Mysuru move without entering the city.
It must be mentioned that the State will spend Rs. 525 crore for just laying this road.
