As reservations for the Chennai Central to Coimbatore Vande Bharat Express remain high, train passengers have requested authorities to increase the number of coaches to 16, so that more persons can be benefitted.

The regular service of the Chennai Central to Coimbatore Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 20643/20644) commenced on April 9, 2023. This express train, with 8 coaches, departs from Coimbatore Junction at 6 a.m., stops at Salem, Erode, and Tiruppur, and arrives at Chennai Central at 11:50 a.m. The return train leaves Chennai Central at 2:25 p.m. and arrives at Coimbatore Junction at 8:15 p.m.

Reports indicate that reservations for this train are consistently at 100%, with a waiting list extending up to 50. Hence passengers have appealed to Southern Railways to add additional coaches and make it a 16-coach Vande Bharat Express. 

Sources have shared that, upon receiving permission from the Railway Board, Southern Railways will add additional coaches to meet passenger demand.
