Tamil Nadu will witness the Northeast Monsoon season between October and December this year.
Using the advanced Software at Agro Climate Research Centre, Directorate of Crop Management, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, TNAU has made predictions for different districts of the State with a probability rate of 60%.
It has stated that Ariyalur, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Erode, Kallakurichi, Karur, Krishnagiri, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Namakkal, Perambalur, Salem, Thanjavur, The Nilgiris, Tiruchirappalli, Tenkasi, Tiruvarur, Tuticorin, Tirupathur and Tiruppur are expected to have Normal Rainfall during this season.
On the other hand, districts/towns like Chennai, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Kancheepuram, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Pudukkottai, Ranipet, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Theni, Tirunelveli, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, Villupuram and Virudhunagar are predicted to have above Normal Rainfall.
Coimbatore may get 330 mm of rain while Chennai will get 900 mm this monsoon season, the report said.
