The 36-hour national-level hackathon, aimed at finding innovative solutions to mitigate human-animal conflict, successfully concluded at Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore.

The contest was organized in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department and the Coimbatore Forest Division, and it saw participation from more than 150 teams across India, with 21 teams making it to the final round.

The finals of the hackathon, was held between March 14th and 16th. Engineering college students from across the country engaged in intense brainstorming sessions to develop technological and strategic solutions addressing the pressing issue of human-animal conflict.

The grand finale was inaugurated by K.S. Sathish, Regional Passport Officer, Coimbatore, in the presence of A. Soundarrajan, Principal of Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College. Following the rigorous 36-hour challenge, the winners were announced, with Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore, securing the first prize and St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Chennai, taking the second prize.

The awards were distributed by D. Venkatesh IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests and Field Director of Anamalai Tiger Reserve, and Coimbatore District Forest Officer, N. Jayaraj. The event was attended by faculty members from the Computer Society of India, the Research Division, and the Information Technology Department of Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College.
