Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, L. Murugan inaugurated the Mettupalayam - Tuticorin Bi-Weekly Express Train Service (Train No. 16765/16766) today at a function in Mettupalayam Railway Station.

The Mettupalayam - Tuticorin Bi-Weekly Express Train will be operated via Madurai and Coimbatore on Thursdays and Fridays from Tuticorin. It will have stoppages at Kovilpatti, Satur, Virudunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Oddanchatram, Palani, Udumalaipettai, Pollachi, Kinathukadavu and Coimbatore.

The event also saw the extension of 3 pairs of Mettupalayam Coimbatore MEMU services to Podanur; Stoppage for Train No.22616/22615 Coimbatore-Tirupati-Coimbatore Express Vinexpress at Samalpatti, extension of Train no. 16231/16232 Mayiladuthurai-Mysore-Mayiladuthurai Express to Cuddalore Port Junction and increase in the frequency of Train no.16233/16234 Mayiladuthurai- Tiruchirapalli- Mayiladuthurai Trains from 5 days to Daily. DRM of Salem Division Pankaj Kumar and many other dignitaries attended the event.
