Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi inaugurated a renovated primary school premises that is entirely sponsored by Pricol Ltd through its CSR Fund at Pallapalayam near Sulur on Monday (14.10.2024).

The Minister inaugurated this new premises worth Rs. 1.20 crore in the presence of Vijay Mohan, Founder; Vanitha Mohan, Chairperson, Pricol Ltd; Ganapathy Rajkumar, MP, Coimbatore; R.Balamurali, Chief Education Officer - Coimbatore; Sweta Suman IAS, Additional Collector, Coimbatore and a few other guests.

Vanitha Mohan while welcoming the gathering highlighted the amenities provided in this school premises. She said that this block is developed on a 5050 sq.ft area. It has 5 individual classrooms, a dedicated room for teachers, purified drinking water facility, clean and separate toilets for boys and girls, a mini playground, reinforced guard rails near staircases, complete CCTV surveillance and much more.

Ms.Mohan shared that each classroom has desk and chairs as per the children's age requirement. Underlining that nature, especially water conservation is Siruthuli (a NGO working towards creating a greener Coimbatore), she said that they have installed Rain Water Harvesting structures that are capable of storing 22,000 litres of rain water in the school campus. Also, to create a greener landscape in the campus, 10 tree saplings were sowed.

Minister Anbil Mahesh appreciated Pricol Ltd. for their contribution towards strengthing public school infrastructure. He urged the students to make good use of this new and improved school premises, and also focus on building Tamil Nadu's future through the education they get from it.

"Pricol has spent, or should I say, invested Rs.1 crore+ on school education sector. It is our duty to create societal development as the Interest on Investment you've made. We will certainly deliver it," the Minister said.

He said that TN Government will take care of the education needs of the children (from school to collegiate education) in the State through its various schemes starting from TN Chief Minister's Breakfast scheme to Nan Mudhalvan scheme, and also facilitate job opportunities to them via MoU with global companies. The State will guide the students for around 25 years, starting from their childhood to career stage.

Talking about CSR Fund Support towards school education, the Minister said that in November, 2022 the school education department started its first CSR activity with a fund of Rs. 5 lakhs contributed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin from his own pocket. Today it has Rs.300+ crore fund via CSR. He said the corporates have placed their trust on the government that they will certainly build school blocks through the fund. 

He added that the TN Govt has alloted Rs.44,042 crore to school education in the 2024 budget, which is higher than the budget for agriculture. He underlined that this shows how important is school education to the state government. He urged the teachers to teach the students well and asked the students to make use of the opportunity.
