The inflow into the Mettur dam in Salem district had come down to 30,000 cusecs from over 1.3 lakh cusecs a week ago.

Since there were lesser rains in the catchment areas of Krishnasagar and Kabini dams in Karnataka, the inflow into the Mettur dam also decreased drastically, official sources said.

The inflow was 40,000 cusecs yesterday, which had come down to 30,000 cusecs this morning and the irrigation department is discharging 30,000 cusecs to the delta districts of Tamil Nadu, they said.

The water level in the reservoir stood at 120 feet and the availability of water at 93.74 TMC.
