Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, L. Murugan will take part in a function at Mettupalayam Railway Station scheduled to take place on Friday and will inaugurate the Mettupalayam - Tuticorin Bi-Weekly Express Train Service.

The Mettupalayam - Tuticorin Bi-Weekly Express Train service was first announced on March 15th this year but it was not revealed when the service will commence. It is finally set to start from July 19th. The train will be operated via Madurai and Coimbatore.

The train will be operated on Thursdays and Fridays from Tuticorin. It will have stoppages at Kovilpatti, Satur, Virudunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Oddanchatram, Palani, Udumalaipettai, Pollachi, Kinathukadavu and Coimbatore.

The minister will also greenlight the extension of 3 pairs of Mettupalaym to Coimbatore MEMU Services to Podanur Railway Station.
