The MD of CMRL shared that the DPR and related documents to the Coimbatore Metro Project were sent to the Union Government by the State Government and the approval for the project is expected soon.

He said that the metro project executed via elevated corridor would take 3 years for implementation and almost 2 years would go for land acquisition and utilities shifting works. Hence a discussion was held with the District Collector, Coimbatore Corporation Collector and Stakeholders regarding this, so that the work could be done effectively. Efforts are being taken to start the preliminary works related to this during Jan-Feb 2025. Through this, the overall execution time of the project could be reduced, the MD of CMRL said.

Talking about the land acquisition, Siddique said that 10 hectare of land will be acquired for the 2 corridors and another 16 hectare for the depot will be acquired for the depots.
