"Lots of time, parents think getting 99 marks out of 100, being technically savant, memorizing all the answers to the questions from text book and reproducing that in the question paper is the sign of intellectual ability," and that is not sign of intelligence expressed R.Velusamy, President, Automotive Technology &Product Development, Mahindra and Mahindra at the Graduation Ceremony of Kumaraguru College of Technology on Saturday.
More than 2000 students of the college belonging to the 2021 batch are getting their degrees in 3 sessions today.
Mr.R.Velusamy was the Chief Guest of the morning session and handed over the degree certificates to 600 grads. belonging to 7 departments.
Shankar Vanavarayar, the Joint Correspondent, Kumaraguru Institutions presided over the event. D Saravanan, Principal of the college, Heads of various departments were present.
In his address to the students, he said "please remind yourself that a lot of goals, lot of learning and experience has to be built. Even though you are going to be a graduated individual and a young Indian today, the learning cannot stop. A graduation or a degree is a passport into further learning... Learning is constant and consistent".
Sharing how the world is speaking about India; its accompolishments accomplished people, for instance like Rishi Sunak elevation, he said "this means doors are open... but that does not mean success is possible. This means opportunity is being offered but we have to work hard to get respected"
He wanted them to look at every case of success not as fluke or luck or chance or special treatment but understand that these were due to hard work.
The Chief Guest, Mr.Velusamy in his address said Steve Jobs kept his heart towards the customers and their needs. He had insights and dethroned a dominant smartphone brand like Blackberry within a decade with his incredible innovation called the iPhone.
He said Bill Gates' team earlier pitched the then world's richest man about an all-display and no physical button gadget , but Bill who had the intelligence like that of Einsteins', did not believe it to be disruptive, and rejected it.
Within a few years, Steve Jobs came with such an innovation and took over the world.
He urged the graduates to be like Steve Jobs and keep their heart towards customers' needs, so that someday soon India could have a Steve Jobs, a Elon Musk and a Sundar Pichai.
He urged them to Build Organization based on Customer Insights.
