Balloon Festival begins in Coimbatore; Hot air balloons from around the world start to fly in Pollachi!

Update on 14.01.2025: One of the nearly a dozen hot air ballons that flew at Pollachi as a part of the Tamil Nadu International Balloon Fest landed at a field near Kannimari, Pallakad. People who travelled in this elephant shaped balloon bearing the number 6 safely got down and the balloon according to sources. This surprise halt led to speculation including an accident but no such thing has been confirmed. Another source shared that hot air balloons generally land like this and there was no accident.
The 10th edition of the Tamil Nadu International Hot Air Balloon Festival commenced near Atchipatti Pollachi, Coimbatore on Pongal 2025.
This festival taking place in Coimbatore for three days (14-16th of Jan) is organised with the support of Tamil Nadu Tourism Department. feature 10 hot air balloons from 8 countries.
Hot air balloons of various figures from USA, Australia, France, Brazil, Thailand, Veitnam and Belgium were flown on the inaugural day from 6 a.m onwards.
Designed as a family carnival, this festival also includes music, food and other entertainments. General entry pass is fixed at Rs.150 and goes all the way upto Rs.799. Entry for kids under 12 years is free. For more info visit, https://www.tnibf.com/
