Gurgaon-based low-cost airline IndiGo which is set to commence Coimbatore to Abudhabi flight service next month, opened bookings for Coimbatore-Abu Dhabi flights today. The service, according to sources will be a tri-weekly one and the airline will render this service on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays every week. The service will begin from August 10th onwards. Indigo is also expected to provide connectivity to Colombo and Singapore.

As of now, Coimbatore International Airport facilitates connections to major cities in India and to 2 international destinations - Sharjah and Singapore. Adding connectivity to a third international destination from Coimbatore will aid travellers, especially the businessmen.

However, a direct flight connectivity to Dubai remains a long pending demand from the city, and this latest annoucement has rejuvenated fresh hopes that Covai will indeed get that connectivity some time later.
