Broadway Cinemas in Coimbatore officially become the home for the second EPIQ theater in the country today. This is the largest movie screen in Tamil Nadu now measuring 70 ft in width and 37 ft in height.

This premium large screen format-powered theater, developed by India-based cinema technology provider QUBE was launched by the founders of QUBE Senthil Kumar and Jayendra Panchapakesan along with MD of Broadway Cinemas Satish Kumar.

The 70 ft wide screen is just one of the highlights. The theater boasts a Barco 4K RGB laser projection, Dolby Atmos Immersive Audio, a 1.9 screen aspect ratio that is optimized for both scope and flat movies with razor sharp images, higher brightness, increased contrast, and a wider colour gamut.

Broadway’s Chief of Operations Tejal Satish conveyed that they have provided stadium seating so that everyone inside the theater can get the best viewing experience. She also said that since the seats and ceilings are in complete black, this will give no room for deviation and pave way for total immersion into the movies.

“EPIQ’s value proposition will be as good as or better than IMAX,” co-founder of QUBE, Senthil Kumar said during the launch event. EPIQ is considered as India’s answer to IMAX, and both the theaters are in Broadway Cinemas.

“All the 9 screens in Broadway are now open, and all shows are going housefull for the past 1 week,” Broadway’s MD Satish Kumar said.

The tickets prices may vary as per movie’s language and format at EPIQ, but the price on average at EPIQ would be Rs. 360 exclusive of taxes, Project Director Neha shared.

Whether it is IMAX or EPIQ, Broadway Cinemas in Coimbatore has it all, and bookings are now open.

Regardless of what official reports claim that the viewing experience will be the same no matter where one sits, sitting on the left, right and lower portion of the theater is most likely to make viewing the movies a challenge whereas anywhere from the mid to the top portions will give a pleasurable experience.
