City students urge people to take action against climate change through street play!

30 students from the Climate Academy at Vibgyor High School, Coimbatore, staged a street play near Media Tower in Race Course, highlighting the urgent need to take action against climate change. 

The street play was viewed by the public, parents of the students along with Vibgyor High’s Principal Boby Mathew; Administrator Vijayan; Academic Coordinators Yamuna Narthaki, Smitha, Snigdha, Usha Roy and School Development Officer Garima Sehgal.

The performance vividly illustrated the urgent impacts of climate change, including rising temperatures, ecosystem disruption, health issues, deteriorating soil conditions affecting agriculture, extreme weather events, and the increasing costs of disaster recovery. Through compelling narratives and visuals, the students effectively conveyed the pressing need for awareness and action.

In a poignant conclusion, the students highlighted that tree planting, reducing plastic usage, conserving water, and public awareness campaigns as vital steps in mitigating the effects of climate change. Their passionate call for community involvement resonated with the audience, urging everyone to take responsibility.

This street play not only educated but also inspired the community to demand proactive measures for a sustainable future.
