The PG & Research Department of Biotechnology of Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Coimbatore and Indian Science Congress Association jointly organized a guest lecture on 'CRISPR Cas 9'.

It had the participation of the students and members of staff from the Biotechnology Department and various departments of the college. Dr. O.N. Paramasivan, Treasurer of the college,S.Paulsamy Dean R&D of the college also took part.

Dr. Kalpana Surendranath, Senior lecturer in Molecular biology and Microbiology, Leader of Genome Engineering Lab, UniversityofWestminster,London served as the resource person and delivered a special lecture on CRISPR-Cas9.

The lecture featured a presentation and discussion that outlined the current state-of-the-art use of genome editing technologies, such as CRISPR-Cas9 and its basic principles.

She also presented about various programs (like internships, open day, trainings, workshops, Gene Editors and the UG-PG-PhD pipeline and so on) offered in her Genomic Engineering Laboratory.
