Supreme Court's Guidelines and Directions on firecrackers state that all firecrackers that are to be produced and used during festival times must be Green Crackers.

The Counsil of Scientific and Industrial Research's National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) developed Green Crackers and has made MoUs with 200+ firecracker manufacturers to bring out adequate Green Crackers in the country.

Manufacturers in Sivakasi claim they only produce green crackers, according to a report but it is hard for buyers to ascertain if the crackers are really green.

What parents need to do when buying crackers for their family is that they must buy only green crackers from licensed sellers and not some street vendors.

Green crackers will have the CSIR-NEERI logo on the fireworks packaging. All green fireworks are certified by CSIR-NEERI or NABL accredited labs and each of these packers has a unique logo and a QR code.

Look for it and scan it to make sure it is green cracker.
