Almost 400 people inside the circus tent set up at VOC grounds on Friday were looking up with excitement, wondering what the artists standing on two different stands placed above 60 feet from the ground are going to do.

Within seconds, one of the artists began to hang upside down on a trapeze, and once he was all set, he started swinging with his open arms only to perfectly catch the other guy who daringly jumped towards him.

The man did this flawlessly for several times with different artists, and the daredevil act received a thunderous applause from the audience section.

This was a kind of entertainment that Coimbatore had badly missed, and thanks to Great Bombay Circus, it is now back to the city after almost 7 years.

The shows by Great Bombay Circus began in Coimbatore on Friday. It premiered at 7 PM and the house was full.

The show featured several juggling and wide variety of balancing acts especially balancing on knives by Manipuri artists; acrobatic dancing, roller skate dancing, hula hoop dancing by a Russian artist in which 25 hula hoops were elegantly used at the same time, and lot more.

The show also had some acts from limited no. of animals and birds. The circus dogs jumped several hoops before returning obediently to their seats while the exotic birds rode a mini bicycle by themselves, played see-saw, jumped hoops and earned a strong applause.

Of course, there were clowns of various sizes making slapstick comedy performance, and their acts equally excited the attendees.

Through the loud cheers and claps at the end of each act, it was clear that not even one act dulled them.
