Providing exact change while purchasing bus tickets is often a hassle for both passengers and conductors.

This is set to change in the coming monthsin Coimbatore, as Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) is gearing up to introduce digital payment options in its town buses that run here.

TNSTC has procured the necessary devices to enable ticket payments through UPI and ATM cards. An official said the process of linking these devices with TNSTC’s bank accounts is underway, and the system is expected to be operational within two months.

Once implemented, passengers will be able to scan QR codes and pay for their tickets digitally, eliminating the need for cash transactions. The facility will be available across all TNSTC town bus services in Coimbatore.
