Actor Ajith Kumar's 63rd film, Good Bad Ugly, directed by Trisha Illana Nayanthara and Mark Antony maker Adhik Ravichandran, hit the big screens today across Tamil Nadu and a few other territories. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film also stars Trisha, Arjun Das, Prabhu, Prasanna, Sunil, Yogi Babu, and a few other familiar faces.
AK, the Red Dragon (Ajith), a notorious and feared gangster, surrenders to the police with the intention of coming clean for the sake of his newborn son Vihaan (Karthikeya Dev) and wife Ramya (Trisha). After spending a very long time in prison, he is released, and his only wish is to reunite with his family, especially his son. But not everything goes according to plan for AK, as he continues to face threats from unseen forces, even after all these years.
He eventually realizes that this time, the forces aren’t after him — they’re seeking revenge for something entirely different. What AK does to keep his family safe in this scenario takes the audience on an action-packed adventure.
Ajith’s portrayal of AK is powerful and commanding, and Adhik has done everything to elevate the character. In one particular scene, we see AK behind a door shutter rising, which gets stuck midway, revealing only his torso. A character asks, "Where is Thala?" to which a charismatic Ajith replies, "Vandhutan da (Here I come)." The theater erupts for this massy entry.
Arjun Das (Johnny) delivers a strong performance in Good Bad Ugly. No longer the right-hand man of a major thug like Anbu in Kaithi or Das in Master, he now takes the lead as the head of the Dark Wolves. The director has crafted wonderful fan service with tons of nostalgic moments, a few cameos, and a surprise dual role. This is a purely Ajith-driven action flick for the fans.
