The Grand Finale of the Hardware Edition of Smart India Hackathon 2022 was held at Forge, KCT Tech Park, Chinnavedampatti, Coimbatore, which served as one of the Nodal Centers for the event.

This event at Forge witnessed 24 teams with 141 participants and 35 mentors from across 7 states taking part. The problem statements provided to the participants were predominantly focused on making the lives of differently-abled people better.

The problem statements put forward by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment - Department of Persons with Disabilities included (i) development of easy operating systems for persons with locomotor disability, (ii)providing IoT based solutions for recording and storing metrics of normal and orthotic leg for analysis by Orthotist., (iii) using depth sensors or computer vision in prosthetic lower extremity exoskeleton appliance to alert or adjust gait, (iv) Smart Knee actuator cushion using pressure sensitive material, (v) Development of Software for AAC for persons with different disabilities.

The event was inaugurated by Maya Sreekumar, Vice President, Cognizant Technology Solutions. Among these 100+ participants, the best solutions offered for the 5 problem statements by the winning teams bagged ₹1 lakh prize money each.

The winners were felicitated by Shankar Vanavarayar, Founder & MD, Forge and Vish Sahasranamam, Co-Founder & CEO, Forge.

It must be mentioned that the team 'Innovative Hackers' from Sri Krishna College of Engineering & Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu worked on the problem statement 'Using depth sensors or computer vision in prosthetic lower extremity exoskeleton appliance to alert or adjust gait', and gave the solution provided by it 'Real Time Tracking of Walk Pattern, Fall Detection, Storing the co- ordinates', won the title.
