The NH wing is constructing a 1.2 km, four-lane flyover that will span across the NSR Road junction and Sivananda Colony Road junction on Mettupalayam Road to ease traffic congestion on this stretch.

The construction works began on September 2024 and the authorities hope to finish this project in 2 years.Former TN Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development and Implementation of Special Programs SP Velumani inspected the project site on Thursday and made some requests to the government on behalf of the public.

Velumani said that the ADMK regime allotted funds for various flyover projects and commenced their construction while this flyover project began during the current ruling DMK's tenure. While the flyover starts at Alagesan Road and ends near the Eru Company, SP Velumani MLA through the press and media appealed to the Public Works Department and TN Govt to extend the Flyover to benefit more people.

He said that Mettupalayam Road is a major road to reach Mettupalayam, Ooty and Mysore. If easing traffic congestion in this road is the plan, then the flyover should be extended upto Mettupalayam Road Police Checkpost as constructing a roundabout at the intersection of the MTP Road and Sanganoor Road junction won't help much.

The flyover which is being built at a cost of Rs. 71 crore is expected to be complete and open for public in two years.
