The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Rs.9,000 crore Coimbatore Metro is nearing completion and will be submitted to the Tamil Nadu government by 15th of July.  

Chennai Metro Rail Limited, a joint venture between Govt of Tamil Nadu Nadu and Govt of India is tasked with hiring consultants to do both the feasibility report and the DPR for the Coimbatore Metro Rail project.

The Hindu reported that officials of CMRL had said in June 2023 that the DPR will be submitted to the Tamil Nadu government as usual and when approved, land acquisition, utility diversion and construction work can start in the coming years.
