It is expected that the Coimbatore international airport's long awaited expansion works will pick up pace once the design plans which have been sent to various government departments for approval gets the nod.
A new report mentioned that following Tamil Nadu government's handover of 472.32 acres of acquired land to Airports Authority of India for the expansion project, preliminary works related to it are gradually moving on.
Now, various design plans integral to the expansion have been sent to different departments of the Union Government, including Environment and Defence. The departments will hold inspection based on the submitted plans, and may even recommend some changes in the designs.
Upon making those changes in the designs, plans will get the nod, and the expansion works will ensue. As of now, it's been reported that the concerned authorities have been instructed to build a compound wall around the land for the project before the expansion.
