Coimbatore Corporation will be renovating the Ukkadam Bus Stand and construct a new one in a vacant land opposite to Ukkadam Police Station (near Perur Bypass) at a cost of Rs.21.55 crore.

Ukkadam Bus Stand (which was partly demolished for the Ukkadam - Athupalam Flyover works by the State Highways Department) will undergo renovation soon and the Corporation has prepared a DPR for this project already.

But since the rail infrastructure for the Coimbatore Metro Rail Project will be setup from Ukkadam Bus Stand to Neelambur through the airport, Coimbatore Corporation will reportedly make some changes to the designs of the Ukkadam Bus Stand and also to the new one that is set to come up near it.

Corridor 1 of the upcoming Coimbatore Metro Rail Project includes - Ukkadam Bus Stand, Town Hall, Coimbatore Junction, Collectorate, GKNM Hospital, Lakshmi Mills, Nava India, Peelamedu, Fun Mall, Hopes, Coimbatore Medical College, SITRA, MGR Nagar, PLS Nagar, Venkittapuram, Park Plaza, Neelambur and Coimbatore Airport.

The changes to the Bus Stand however won't be big but a slight one. The Corporation will discuss this matter with the concerned officials and Chennai Metro Rail Limited team and then make alterations to the designs.
