According to data from Union Ministry of MSME - Govt of India, the total number of MSMEs registered on Udayam Registration Portal and Udayan Assist Platform in Tamil Nadu as on 5.8.2024 is 39,45,867, and Coimbatore stands 2nd among all the 38 districts with 3.23 lakh MSMEs.

Chennai undoubtedly stands first with a massive 4.59 lakh MSMEs. After Coimbatore, Salem comes 3rd with 2.01 lakh MSMEs, Madurai with 1.82 lakh, Thiruvallur with 1.71 lakh, Tiruppur with 1.68 lakh, Kanchipuram with 1.45 lakh, Erode with 1.35 lakh, Vellore with 1.32 lakh, Trichy with 1.30 lakh, Kanyakumari and Cuddalore with 1.18 lakh, Tirunelveli with 1.11 lakh, Thanjai with 1.08 lakh, Dindigul with 1.07 lakh, Krishnagiri with 1.03 lakh MSMEs. The list continues.

What these MSMEs want from Tamil Nadu Government is to reduce the hiked electricity tariff. This has been their pending demand.
