The Super Specialty block of Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in Trichy Road which was inaugurated in March this year is all set to become fully operational from July 1, according to sources.

This new block of the CMCH was built with the financial support from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at a cost of more than Rs.100 crore. It was virtually inaugurated by Chief Minister Stalin earlier this year.

Upon becoming totally functional, the ground floor will offer intensive care, CT scan, MRI and Mammogram tests while the 1st floor can provide services related to Gastro, Surgeries including Cardiothoracic and Spinal cord, the 4th floor can start admitting patients in wards meant for in-patients and treatment space for head injuries.

Sources said that minor works are to be done in Operation Theaters alone, and they will start to function a bit later. The Operation Theaters need high power connections and works related to that are going on in full swing.

As of now the shifting of multiple medical departments from the old GH block is underway, and all will be done before July 1 and the new block will start to function from coming Monday.
