A great portion of the pregnant women in India, especially in Southern regions of the country wish for a natural birth. They also wish to give birth at the comfort of their houses. 

To help such women deliver their baby in the natural way under the supervision of a team of expert gynecologists, in a home-like atmosphere, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore launched Coimbatore's first dedicated center for unmedicated childbirth with water birth facility, called 'SRH Birthing Center' on Friday.

The aim is to help pregnant women deliver without any (or) minimal medical intervention. The hospital has dedicated one floor for such services.

Dr.Saradha, Senior Gynecologist at Sri Ramakrishna Hospitals said that outcomes will be much better if the pregnant women come for check-ups right from their early stage of pregnancy. Expecting couples can also seek the services even at the middle and final stage of pregnancy.

She said that this center is set up to give a home-like feel to the pregnant women, and it is equipped with the all the needed medical infra like blood-bank, operation theaters etc., and team support like qualified and experienced gynecologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, physiotherapists and pediatricians.

Dr.Saradha said that Sri Ramakrishna Hospital has been providing gynecology services for 40 years, and it guides pregnant women from Coimbatore and its neighbouring districts with its expertise in this field of medical care. She added that when a pregnant women has no diabetes and pressure, and feels confident, natural birth becomes really easy. 

When asked whether the services of this center is expensive, she said that the hospital has taken steps to make this affordable for people for everyone. 

The center was inaugurated by SNR Sons Charitable Trust's Managing Trustee D.Lakshminarayanaswamy in the presence of its Joint Managing Trustee, R.Sundar, COO Swathy Rohit and CEO C.V.Ramkumar.
