On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Amazon India celebrates the innovative spirit, leadership and excellence of women. Aligned with this year’s theme, ‘Embrace Equity’, Amazon launches ‘SheIsAmazon’, a campaign to highlight Amazon India's initiatives towards increasing women's participation and enabling their growth in the workforce.


Amazon India has created tens of thousands of opportunities for women in India – be it the employees or associates at its workplace, sellers who sell on Amazon.in or partners across its fulfillment and delivery network. From delivery associates to applied scientists, women thrive in diverse roles across Amazon businesses and raise the bar across communities.

 

Amazon business has taken significant efforts in terms of policies, benefits, programs, and initiatives to ensure the participation of women at different levels in different roles.

 

Sharing her thoughts on the campaign, Deepti Varma, Vice President, People Experience & Technology, Amazon Stores – APAC, MENA& LATAM, says, “Gender equality and equity has always been a priority for Amazon. It is ingrained in how we operate, our governance framework and decision-making."

To increase women’s representation within the organization and to support their growth and professional development, Amazon India introduced several policies, programs, benefits and initiatives over the years.

 

These impact different stages of an individual’sjourneywith a company -from being attracted as potential talent, to recruitment, to driving individual growth &professional development. At the talent scouting and hiring stage, Amazon uses gender-neutral job descriptions, tools, and mechanisms that deter recruiters or hiring managers from gravitating toward unconscious bias. 

 

To support women employee growth and development, Amazon has policies, benefits, and mentoring programs that enable women to leverage the knowledge, experience, learnings, and guidance of senior Amazon leaders. The company also provides flexibility to women to maintain a healthy balance between personal and professional aspects. Beyond the workplace, Amazon promotes knowledge sharing and engagement with women entrepreneurs and women in the rural community.



As part of #SheIsAmazon campaign, Amazon creatively captures some of its policies, benefits, programs, and initiatives for women through a doodle to visually tell the story of the impact Amazon is creating in the lives of women within and outside the organization. The doodle represents how Amazon has nurtured a progressive and inclusive environment through equity for women.
