The Special Controller of Police in Kerala has informed that Ayyappa devotees who travel long distances from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh to visit the Sabarimala shrine should rest for at least two hours at Nilakkal base camp and continue their journey.

It is recommended to continue the journey to Pampa after resting at Nilakkal in a situation where various physical difficulties are experienced due to the fatigue of the long journey.
