What is Type 1 Diabetes?

According to International Diabetic Federation, Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune condition that causes the pancreas to make very little insulin or none at all—this means the human body cannot convert food into energy, which can lead to long-term complications including damage to the kidneys, eyes, nerves, heart and even premature death. Type 1 Diabetes can affect people at any age, but commonly develops in children or young adults. Certain factors like family history can increase the risk of Type 1 Diabetes, but the condition is not caused by diet or lifestyle. There is currently no cure for Type 1 Diabetes.

Dr.Adityan Guhan said that the theme of this year's World Diabetes Day observance is 'Education to Protect Tomorrow', and going ahead with that as a motto, AGs Health Care will be guiding parents with sick kids about the possible symptoms of diabetes and what kind of diet they have to take, what else can they do to help their child live strong enough to fight this diseases.

It must be mentioned that this event by AGs Healthcare's has been verified and published in 'World Diabetes Day Organisation' and 'International Diabetes Foundation - Global Map of Impact 2022' for the second time in a row.

Last year AGs Health care launched India's first interactive webpage dedicated to help diabetics with some of the novel features like SOS and Diabetes Risk Management, etc.
