The high-level committee under retired High Court judge D.Murugesan submitted the Tamil Nadu State Education Policy Report on Monday to the Chief Minister.

The committee was formed in June 2022 to prepare an alternative to the Central Government’s National Education Policy 2020 by the TN govt.

Sources said that this 500-page report prepared by the committee members with inputs from the stakeholders of education sector advocates that admissions to colleges should be based on both the +1 and +2 marks of the students, and admissions to medical colleges should not be through NEET.

The report suggests the continuation of Two-language policy in schools, and emphasizes that no board exams should be held for classes 3rd,5th and 8th.

The Chairman of the committee said earlier that this would be a comprehensive report, keeping in mind the interests of our children from school education up to college education.

Now that the report is out in public, it is expected to receive mixed opinions and suggestions from different corners.
