Panchayat Union Middle School at Kalappanaicken Palayam in Periyanaickenpalayam block, Panchayat Union Primary School at Sugunapuram in Perur block and Panchayat Union Middle School at Kondampalayam in Karamadai block have been declared as best by the School Education Department on the basis of their performance in a Centrally Sponsored Scheme called New Indian Literacy Programme (NILP) in the last academic year. 


NILP is a program by Union Ministry of Education and it aims to provide 'Foundational Literacy and Numeracy', 'Critical Life Skills', 'Vocational Skills Development', 'Basic Education' and 'Continuing Education' to 5 crore non-literates in India in the age group of 15 years and above.
