Railway stations have become favorite locations for shooting movies and there is a huge demand for filming on the
railway premises, on railway stations, and on trains in Palakkad division.

Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu Film producers and production companies have found the beautiful railway stations in the division as film shooting locations.

Walayar, Pollachi, Muthalamada, Pudunagaram, Palakkad Town, Nilambur Road railway stations have been mainly demanded for shooting by film production companies due to their scenic beauty. The Division has earned Rs.1.95 Crore from film shooting during March 2021 to December 2022.

 Mamootty starrer “Unda” film was shot at Nilambur Road railway station in 2019. ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ - Telugu film starring Mahesh Babu, Rashmika Mandanna, Vijayashanthi, Prakash Raj and Sangeetha was shot at
Muthalamada railway station.

The shooting of Malayalam movie, “Hridayam” produced by Merryland Cinemas, featuring Pranav Mohanlal and Kalyani Priyadarshan at Palakkad Town, Pudunagaram and Muthalamada stations were held during February 2020 and March 2021.

The Malayalam Movie, “Aarattu” , starring Superstar Mohanlal was shot at Palakkad Town in January 2021. A Tamil Movie, starring Santhanam was done at Walayar station in February 2021 and premises and the shooting was done again at Walayar in April 2021. 


Another Tamil Film starring Sasikumar was shot at Cherukara in 2022. “Pachuvum Adbhuthavilakkum” directed by Akhil Sathyan, starring Fahad Fazil, Mukesh and Innocent was shot at Muthalamada and Kollengode in October 2022.

Tamil Film – “Joe” starring Rio Raj directed by Hariharan Ram.S was shot at Muthalamada railway station in December 2022. The presence of trains and railway station premises is proving to be very beneficial for the railways as it fetches non-fare revenue.
