Globally reputed community service organization, Rotary's youth wing is called Rotaract. It serves as the first step to bring together youth between the ages 18-30 and not just teach but practice leadership skills and experience what it means to serve the community. 

Just like its parent organization, the Rotaract Clubs are also active world-wide. Rotary brings together the clubs in different geographies under individual zones which it calls as Districts. Coimbatore, Cochin, Idukki, Palakkad and Thrissur form the Rotary International District called R.I.District 3201.

The 16th Rotaract District Assembly event called Kalam, was hosted in the city recently by Rotaract Clubs of Coimbatore CACIL and HICAS at Hindusthan College of Arts and Science, a press release said. 


According to the press note-

The event began with an unique introductory dance that put in focus the rich and unique culture of RI District 3201.

The Secretary’s Report for the Rotary Year 2022 – 2023 was presented through a video by Rtr. PP. Mohammed Afsar. The Secretary report then gave way to a rousing farewell address by Rtr. Kishore Babu, the Celebrate DRR, wherein he let all his emotions out while expressing his gratitude to the people who stood by him through out the Celebrate year.
Following this, the Elevate DRR, Rtr. PP. SathishBalakrishnan was introduced to the audience though a stunning video as he took up the mantle of District Rotaract Representative (DRR) for the Rotary Year 2023 – 2024 from the Celebrate DRR Rtr. PP. Kishore Babu.

Post this, he delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech giving the audience a hint of what laid ahead in the year before beginning to introduce his team of council members who walked upto the stage one after the other to electrifying music and crowd response.

He then inducted his 43 Dedicated and Diligent Council Members who will his pillar of support throughout the year. Upon the Council Members taking oath, the dignitaries of the day were invited to release the Elevate Logo, the standee for the year among the many other releases. 

Once the releases were done, the gathering was addressed byGovernor Rtn TR Vijaykumar-District Governor,RtnChella – District Governor Nominee,Rtn CT Thiagarajan – DRCC, PDRR Rtn/RtrGirish E- President of RSA MDIO,Rtn Godwin Maria Visuvasam-District Rotaract Advisor, DRRs and leaders from other District, PDRRs of RI District 3201, the President of the Home Club of the DRR.

Post the felicitations by the dignitaries, the participants were served some delicious lunch which served as the precursor to the most important aspect of the evening which was the Training of the Board Members of the Clubs. A total of 9 sessions were held simultaneously by the knowledgeable and skillful Certified District Trainers of RI District 3201. The Board members were taught in detail as to how they can bring up and implement their ideas in their respective avenues.

While the Board members were oriented towards their roles, a separate session on Rotaract Organization as a whole was underway as well for the Presidents, Secretaries and Members of the Clubs.

Once the sessions were done and dusted with, the valedictorian ceremony began where the DRR announced the first set of DRR’s Special Recognitions and had rich words of praise for the host team following which the Event Chairman, Rtr. PP. VikashSubramani delivered an emotional and heartfelt address while expressing his sincere gratitude to the members of the Host team for making the event a grand success. Finally, the event was adjourned by the Event Chairman paving the way for an exciting evening where the awards for the Celebrate year were given and emotions of all kinds ran high.
