The 10th edition of Coimbatore Marathon, one of India's premier running event, was held today with more than 16000 people taking part in it.

DGP of Tamil Nadu Police, Sylendra Babu IPS took part in the event and flagged off. 

V. Balakrishnan IPS, City Police Commissioner, also attended the event.

85% of runners are from Covai while 250+ runners are from Kerala and 392 are from Tiruppur, the highest for an outside State and District.

The funds raised through this marathon will be used to support many activities of Coimbatore Cancer Foundation like – Surgery, Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, Investigations, Bed charges, Rehabilitation, Palliative care, Hospice and various outreach programs, awareness & screening projects.

Coimbatore District Collector Dr.Sameeran and Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M.Prathap also took part in the marathon.
